Sorority Girl Hazing Beatdown

For most of us our knowledge of sororities is limited to the fact that they like to attend frat parties and get sloppy drunk so they’re easier to take home, that they enjoy having naked pillow fights whenever possible, and that they never ever require having to go to the bathroom. But what a lot of people don’t know is that hazing amongst sororities is just as rampant as it is amongst their brother fraternities, and no, I’m not just talking about how they like to give each other eating disorders. At the Sigma Gamma Rho sorority at Rutgers University they promised a whole new slew of possible pledges that “they didn’t do hazing because they didn’t believe in it”, but they were all about creating “trust and humbling” their new recruits. So of course out came the 12 inch by 6 inch paddles, wrapped in school colors of course, and humbled those girls were, to the point that some of them started to bleed and required medical attention. After a few more days of abuse a few of the girls finally reported it and at least five of the senior girls at the house were arrested. If only they had known the other sorority fact that all female hazing is to only involve playing truth or dare until at the end everyone is making out, sheesh.

For seven nights the beatings went on, she said. In all, she was struck 201 times. On the eighth day — unable to sit, her buttocks covered with blood clots and welts — she went to the hospital. Then she reported it to the university.

The pledge who spoke to The Star-Ledger did so on condition of anonymity, saying she feared retaliation. Her cousin, Khalilh Anthony, accompanied her to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, along with the pledge’s mother, saying she was appalled when she saw the injuries caused by the repeated beatings.

“I wanted to beat them back,” said Anthony, who has a different last name. “Maybe if they got hit, they wouldn’t hit others. They’d know what it felt like.”
